1- Creating an innovation mindset:
Every manager wants to lead innovation in their organization. To do so the managers should be aware of the world’s changes. Thus, they should understand 2 important aspects which are:
1- What are the things that are changing around them?
2- How they shift the mindset of the organization in order to bring this innovation change?
It is obviously that changing the mindset cannot be done overnight. To shift the mindset the organization should hear new voices. Therefore, they usually bring someone outside the organization to take his opinion. However, the organization sometimes has these talents but they did not encourage them to bring their ideas. So the organization should hear from its employees firs. Since innovation requires changes, there will be change resistance and that make a problem for the organization. There are 3 important things to overcome the resistance to change:
1- The performance measurement system.
2- The willingness to collaborate.
3- Taking in the consideration that you will not succeed 100% all time.
2- The new science of human capital:
Every organization needs to improve the quality and/or the quality of its talents to differentiate its self. There are 2 important steps to improve these talents. First, the organization needs to determine where the talent has the biggest impact. This step can be done by the organization’s manager’s observation to their employees. When the manager finds a talent he can improve his skills to use them for the benefit of the organization. Second, if the organization’s managers find a talent, how they can develop him. This process can be done by making a special treatment to the talents. Also, the organization can give him some courses to improve his knowledge in his field.
3- Be a better leader, have a richer life:
A lot of people concentrate on their work in most of their time whereas; the work is just 1 area of 4 areas in the people’s life. These 4 areas are home, work, community and self. Everybody should take these 4 areas in his consideration because they will affect his life simultaneously. So, if he concentrate just on his work and ignores the others, the employee will not perform as he should. Many people called that “life balance” which is not the right phrase because life balance indicates that there is a tradeoff between these 4 areas. Therefore, if you want to succeed in one area you have to sacrifice another area. That is not our aim because we want to integrate the 4 areas together which are called the 4 way wins. The 4 way wins can be done by 2 important ways. First, being real and understand what really matters to you and what is the most important part of your life from these 4 areas. Second, knowing who are the most important people in your life?

1- The entrepreneurship in the classroom:
The serial entrepreneur is someone who is starting business, growing them up until a certain level, putting a management teams in place then in most cases sill this business.
The best way to teach entrepreneurship in the class is to bring real cases. That is what they are doing in Columbia business school. What is better they have is their real cases are entrepreneurs were in the same business school and ask them to make a guest speaker for the students.
As a teacher of the entrepreneurship you can do nothing outside the classroom. So, the students need to get resources, improve their skills and build relationships and that is what the Lang Center does. Therefore, the student should do both attending the class and get involved with the Lang Center.
The relationship between the student and their professor is very important. Actually, it can be done by 3 main ways. First is the monitoring which means the professor should monitor their students to insure that they are in the right track. Second is the board of advisors which is totally different from the board of directors. They are responsible to help the entrepreneurs with financing their project, building relationship and growing up the opportunities with limited liabilities. The last step is the personal which requires from the professors to be in touch with their students and makes them feel comfortable to contact their professors for any support.
2- Professor Joseph Stieglitz emphasis need for wall street reforms:
The real income for US is depreciating. Some people like that because they will pay less taxes but the others do not because they could not consume as they want. The people want to know what the critical mistakes that cause the appreciation are. There are 2 suggestion mistakes. First one is the low interest rate. The second one is the lack of regulations which most likely it is the only impact of the depreciation because there was a period of time where the interest rate was low but without depreciation.
3- Preventing the next financial crisis, research Symposium Keynote:
How effective is monitory policy during the financial crisis? This is a critical question and we should take a look to it. In fact the monitory policy is not very effective during the financial crisis because when the FED uses this policy during the financial crisis they increase its affect instead of decrease it. Actually, using monitory policy during the financial crisis is very dangerous that is because of 2 reasons. Firs, if it did not work it will affect the money supply and demand which will affect the economic situation in the country. Second using the monitory policy during the crisis has a cost and its cost is the FED will lose the control of the inflation which will make the country in a very big problem.

قصة رجل الأعمال الناجح صالح كامل:
الشيخ صالح كامل يعتبر من انجح الشخصيات الاسلاميه التجاريه في العالم وفي السعوديه خاصة. بدأ ممارسة التجارة منذ طفولته فقد كان يصنع ويبيع ما يصنعه لزملائه من عظم الخراف للعبه شعبيه تسمى (الكبوش) وكانت هذه الفتره هي في مرحلتي المتوسطه والثانويه , وبعد ذالك بدأ بانتاج وبيع بعض المجلات المدرسيه. واصل صالح كامل دراسته التعليمية حتى المرحله الجامعيه وفي تلك الفتره قام باستئجار محل صغير قريب من الجامعه لفتح مطبعه لنسخ مذكرات الطلاب وبيعها, بعد ذلك بدأ في العمل الحكومي كفترة تمهيدية قبل ولوج القطاع الخاص. وتنقل في كل وزارات الدولة وفي كل مدن السعودية. بعد ذلك تفرغ للعمل الخاص كمراجع حكومي أو ما يسمى بـالمعقب. وبعد ذلك استطاع ان ينشئ و يفتتح مطبخ في الرياض متعاونا مع صالح خاطر الذي كان طباخ ماهر في منزله بجده. وبعد ذلك طرحت وزاره البرق والبريد والهاتف السعوديه مناقصة لنقل البريد الداخلي, وقام بعمل مشروع البريد الطواف وكان رأس ماله ما يقارب 300 ألف ريال وهي كل ما جمعه من المطبعه والمطبخ. وبعد ذلك اشترى 30 سيارة جيب تويوتا وكان سعر السياره وقتها 12 ألف ريال وبدأ العمل في مشروعه وقد نجح المشروع واستمر 15 سنه. وبعد ذلك بدأ في مشاريع التلفزيون. وقد ضارب في المضاربات الشرعيه في بنك القاهره فقد بدأ بثلاثة ملايين ريال حيث تحولت الى 30 مليون ريال وهذه كانت حجم الاعمال والارباح التي حققها في المضاربه الشرعيه, وفي ثاني سنه اصبحت حجم اعماله ما يقارب 300 مليون ريال.
نقطة التحول الرئيسة في حياة صالح كامل العملية كانت عند حصوله على عقد مدرسة الدفاع الجوي في جدة. بعد تقديم عرض بمبلغ 15 مليون دولار فقط منافس لعرض شركة “نستيول” الأمريكية التي طلبت مبلغ 155 مليون دولار, بالإضافة إلى 22 مطارا مدنيا. بعد ذلك اشترك صالح كامل مع شركة أمريكية متخصصة في صيانة المطارات اسمها “افكو”,وأسسوا “افكو دلة”. اكبر مقاول صيانه في العالم في اواخر السبعينات الى منتصف الثمانينات. فأصبح مؤسس ومالك مجموعة دلة البركة ومقرها جدة.
وفي الختام انا اعتقد ان الشيخ صالح كامل يعتبر مثل للجد والمثابره وعنده خطط استراتيجيه ناجحة في الاداره وغيرها.
Steve Jobs Success Story:
Jobs graduated in 1972 from Homestead High School in Cupertino, California and enrolled in Reed College in Portland, Oregon but dropped out after one semester. He decided to make studies in philosophy and foreign cultures.
Steve Jobs took a job at Atari Inc so he could fulfill his great interest in technology. Then he met Steve Wozniak and started a friendship with him. They attended “Homebrew Computer Club” meetings together.
Steve Jobs took off for India with some savings with Dan Kottke, a friend of his. Once he returned he convinced Steve Wozniak to quit his job at Hewlett Packard so he could join his new business related to personal computers.
Apple Computer Co. was founded in the Jobs family garage by Jobs, then 21, and Wozniak, 26. Apple had already released three improved versions of the personal computer, by 1980. Both founders became millionaires many times over. John Scully of Pepsi was brought in by Steve Jobs to lead the marketing function in Apple.
A disagreement which has occurred between the Apple board and John Scully led to the departure of Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs decided to innovate the hardware industry. Company NeXTStep was his new company and its new hardware was called NeXT Computer. He invested $250 million U.S into the company. The hardware ended up to be a commercial disaster but it did help in object-oriented programming, PostScript, and magneto-optical devices.
Pixar Inc. was also launched by Steve Jobs which has produced animated movies such as Toy Story (1995); A Bug’s Life (1998); Toy Story 2 (1999); Monsters, Inc. (2001); Finding Nemo (2003); and The Incredibles (2004).
He then revolutionized the music industry. The iPod was introduced in 2003. iTunes, the digital jukebox soon made its appearance. A million and a half iPods has been sold. Although, the music industry is still debating on whether this invention will save it or destroy it.
For increasing his company's market cap a whopping $150 billion in the last 12 years, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs was named the best-performing CEO in the world
